Immunization / Vaccination

Diseases are still around, and you can get them if you aren't immunized.

Northerners often travel to other parts of the world where these diseases still kill many people. Some of these diseases are still found in the NWT and other parts of Canada. People who aren't immunized can very easily catch and spread diseases like measles and polio.

Immunization helps keep people safe from preventable diseases. Without proper immunization, one individual who becomes ill can quickly pass a communicable disease to others.

Immunization is still necessary! It is safe and is the best protection against preventable diseases. See the NWT Immunization Schedule for more information.

To find out if you're up-to-date on your immunizations, or to get a copy of your records, contact your local public/health centre. Contact information for all NWT health centres can be found here

It is important that you return for your second dose to be considered immunized against COVID-19.
