Updates to Self-Isolation Protocols Effective Immediately

Entire household must self-isolate for 14-days with returning travelers unless they have self-contained suite. Non-essential travel outside of NWT strongly discouraged.

YELLOWKNIFE 18 November 2020 – In light of record-levels of COVID-19 cases across Canada, the NWT Chief Public Health Officer is making changes to self-isolation guidance for returning travelers.

These new rules are not retroactive. They apply to all travelers and their households arriving after the issuing of this Public Health Advisory on November 18.

La mise à jour du Nunavut sur la COVID-19 indique un foyer d’infection à Whale Cove.

Yellowknife, le 17 novembre 2020 – Toute personne qui se trouve aux Territoires du Nord‑Ouest (TNO) et qui a voyagé depuis la région de Kivalliq au Nunavut à tout moment au cours des 14 derniers jours doit s’isoler immédiatement durant 14 jours à compter de son arrivée.

Confirmed Positive COVID-19 Test in Fort Smith

No outstanding contacts in the NWT. No public risk identified.  

YELLOWKNIFE 11 November 2020 – A positive COVID-19 test has been confirmed in Fort Smith.

The case is related to travel outside of the territory. The individual, along with household contacts, are all appropriately isolated.

There has been no risk identified to the community as appropriate self-isolation procedures were followed by members of the household after travel.

There are no outstanding contacts within the NWT.
