Containment Order Lifted in Fort Liard

News Type:

Cluster declared resolved. Completing isolation still crucial.

YELLOWKNIFE January 30, 2021 – As of 10pm tonight, the containment order in Fort Liard will be lifted.

There have been no further cases of COVID-19 since January 20. Residents can return to routine public health measures after 10pm.

For those still required to isolate

The lifting of the containment order does not change any isolation advice individuals may have been provided by healthcare professionals.

There are still a number of individuals self-isolating because they were assessed to be close contacts of COVID-19 cases.

It is extremely important to complete the 14 days of isolation if you have been directed to. This is because it can take up to 14 days for COVID-19 to develop.

Staying isolated will prevent anyone else from getting sick if you do develop COVID-19.

Remember to monitor closely for symptoms and get in touch with your healthcare provider at the first sign of any.

Our gratitude

It takes a whole community and more to push back a virus like COVID-19.

We would like to thank the community of Fort Liard for their diligence in sticking to the containment order, and for opening their arms to support each other through this difficult time.

Together, we kept the community and the territory safe.
