YELLOWKNIFE, Oct. 10, 2021 – The Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO) is declaring a workplace outbreak at the Legislative Assembly of The Northwest Territories building in Yellowknife.
A workplace outbreak is declared when more than one person has COVID-19 at the site.
Currently there are six confirmed, and two probable, COVID-19 infections in people who were present at this location during the following dates and times.
- October 4: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- October 5: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- October 6: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- October 7: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- October 8: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Yellowknife Public Health is following up with all known contacts at the legislature building. If you attended the legislature building on any of the dates identified, and you have not yet received communication from Yellowknife Public Health, please isolate immediately, arrange for testing and contact Yellowknife Public Health to receive further advice (867-767-9120).

The CPHO is aware of multiple workplaces with active COVID-19 activity. The CPHO is advising that the following worksites are currently experiencing ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks:
- Avens Long Term Care
- RTL/Giant Mine
- TASR (Tłı̨chǫ All Season Road) project
- Chateau Nova Hotel
- Homebase Yellowknife Youth Centre
- Precious Reio Family Day Home
There have been repeated COVID-19 public exposures identified at locations in Yellowknife over the past few weeks. These locations continue to be monitored for signs of outbreaks and the OCPHO will work with management to implement additional precautions as necessary. These locations include:
- Vital Abel House
- Your Independent Grocer (both locations)
- Yellowknife Co-op
