Manufacturers may submit requests for price changes for drugs listed on the NT Pharmacare Formulary as outlined below. Price changes are only recognized through this process.

  • Requests for price changes must be sent via email to pharmacare@gov.nt.ca. No Government of the Northwest Territories officials or staff are to be copied on the email.
  • Emails must include “Price Change Request” at the beginning of the email subject line.
  • Emails must have a completed Price Change Request Form attached.
  • Manufacturers will be sent an email confirming receipt of the Price Change Request.
  • Decisions on price changes will be sent to manufacturers prior to the effective date.
  • Manufacturers may submit price increase requests once a year.
  • The annual deadline for price increase requests is January 31. Price increase requests received after January 31 will not be considered.
  •  Price increases will only be effective April 1.
  • Price increases not approved for April 1, and resubmitted by manufacturer upon an initial negative decision, may be reassessed for an implementation date of July 1.
  • Decisions on price increase requests will be sent to manufacturers prior to the effective date.
  • Manufacturers may submit price decrease requests throughout the year.

When submitting price changes, manufacturers should consider the following:

  • A unit price that is higher than the listed unit price in Alberta will not be approved.
  • A price increase that is higher than the Consumer Price Index (CPI) Based Adjustment factor for patented drug increases will not be accepted.
  • Only products listed on the NT Pharmacare Formulary will be reviewed.
