The Transitional Housing for Addiction Recovery Program (THARP) provides safe, sober housing for individuals transitioning from an addiction treatment or recovery program back to their community. It helps them practice the strategies they learned during treatment to support them to reach their recovery goals.
Guiding Principles
Transitional Housing for Addiction Recovery Program services in the Northwest Territories are:
- Recovery-Oriented: Supporting individuals on their personal recovery journals.
- Relationship-Based: Prioritizing strong, supportive connections.
- Trauma-Informed: Recognizing the impact of trauma on lives and behaviour.
- Culturally Safe: Ensuring respect and freedom from racism and discrimination.
Standards for Service Providers
The Transitional Housing for Addiction Recovery Program Standards Manual outlines the minimum requirements for THARP programming. To maintain quality, the Government of the Northwest Territories audits THARP programs every two years.
