Wellness and Recovery Centre

The Wellness and Recovery Centre will provide shelter and community wellness spaces for people from across the NWT experiencing homelessness in Yellowknife.

Project Overview

The Wellness and Recovery Centre will serve as the site for delivery of programs and services currently provided within the Sobering Center / Day Shelter and Temporary Shelter.

It is designed to accommodate 99 people (that includes both staff and clients), with 30 beds in the Recovery Centre and 59 seats in the Day Shelter.

Lessons learned from COVID-19 response and feedback from previous centres were instrumental in shaping the design of the facility. The facility design is planned to incorporate Indigenous cultural elements, including a community hall space for gatherings, cultural activities, and traditional healing practices.

Site Location

The Wellness and Recovery Centre will be built on 51st Street.
