Update on Infection, Prevention and Control Measures Issue in Beaufort Delta

BEAUFORT DELTA REGION (December 9, 2024) – The Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO) of the NWT is providing an update on the public health advisory released on October 8, 2024. That advisory was about infection, prevention and control concerns related to dental services provided at five health care facilities in the Beaufort Delta region between March 21 and April 29, 2024.

Residents who received dental services during the specified dates were asked to contact their local health centre for assessment and testing. These tests were recommended as a precautionary measure to check for potential exposure to communicable diseases like Hepatitis C (HCV), Hepatitis B (HPV), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), etc.

As of December 9, 2024, the CPHO has not received any reports of communicable diseases linked to these dental procedures. Health care providers in the NWT are required by law to report such diseases to the CPHO under the Public Health Act.
