NORTHWEST TERRITORIES (September 3, 2026) – The new detection of ethylflualprazolam in a whitish, grainy powder seized by RCMP in Yellowknife in late July has prompted the Chief Public Health Officer to issue a public health advisory about the risks associated with illicit drugs in the Northwest Territories.

NORTHWEST TERRITORIES (August 5, 2026) – The detection of carfentanil and other fentanyl analogues in drugs tested in Hay River has prompted the Chief Public Health Officer to issue an updated public health advisory about the dangers associated with illicit drugs in the Northwest Territories.

HAY RIVER (June 16, 2026) - The Chief Environmental Health Officer is advising users of the Hay River drinking water system (Hay River, Kátł’odeeche, Enterprise, Kakisa) that the precautionary Boil Water Advisory issued on May 24, 2026 has been lifted.

Residents who use water from the Hay River drinking water system (Hay River, Kátł’odeeche, Enterprise, Kakisa) were asked to boil their water due to higher than normal turbidity (muddy water).

YELLOWKNIFE (May 24, 2026) - The Chief Environmental Health Officer is advising users of the Hay River drinking water system (Hay River, Kátł’odeeche, Enterprise, Kakisa) to boil their drinking water for at least one minute.

NORTHWEST TERRITORIES (March 12, 2026) - The Chief Environmental Health Officer is advising all residents in the community of Wekweètì that the precautionary Boil Water Advisory has been lifted.

Residents who receive their water from the Community Government of Wekweètì were asked to boil their water due to freezing damage to the water treatment system.

There have been no illnesses associated with drinking water reported in the community.
