Pre-natal
Oral health is an important part of the overall health
For pregnant women!
Your oral health during pregnancy is very important. Achieving and maintaining good oral health can have a positive impact on your unborn baby!
It is important to take care of your teeth and gums during pregnancy for many reasons, such as:
- Hormonal changes during pregnancy can affect the gums, making them more sensitive to swelling and bleeding
- Reducing your risk for oral diseases, such as developing gingivitis (gum) and periodontal (bone) disease
- Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy can leave acids in your mouth increasing the risk of tooth decay.
As a result, it is important to brush your teeth for two minutes, twice a day, using a fluoride toothpaste, and to floss once a day to clean between the teeth where the toothbrush can’t reach.
