Eligibility
Marriage Commissioner / Temporary Marriage Commissioner
- Must be 19 years or older
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must provide reason for requesting appointment
If you are a non-NWT-resident, you can only request for a Temporary appointment. You must provide the date of the wedding in order to receive a Temporary Appointment.
Registered Cleric / Temporary Registered Cleric
- Must be ordained by the church
- Church must be registered and recognized within the NWT
- Support letter required from the church
When submitting the application, please provide:
- a copy of Ordination papers;
- letter of support from the church; and
- incorporation documents from the church, if new or not already incorporated in the NWT
Marriage License Issuer
- Must be 19 years of age or older
- Must be an NWT resident
- Must be a Canadian Citizen
- Must provide reason for requesting appointment
