Extended Health Benefits

Get help paying your Extended Health Benefits Deductible

We understand that managing healthcare costs can be challenging, especially when your financial situation changes. Whether your income has decreased, or your family situation has changed, we offer options to help reduce your Extended Health Benefits (EHB) deductible or spread out your payments.

Income Reassessment

If your income has decreased by 10% or more, or if there’s been a significant change in your family situation – such as marriage, separation, or the death of a family member – you may qualify for an income reassessment. This could lower your EHB deductible or family maximum, making it easier to manage healthcare costs.

To be eligible, you must provide documentation that shows:

  • Your household income decreased by at least 10% compared to last year.
  • Changes in your family, such as marriage, separation, divorce, or death.

To apply, visit Applying for Extended Health Benefits Reassessment.

Monthly Deductible Payment Option

The Monthly Deductible Payment Option (MDPO) allows you to spread your deductible payments over equal monthly installments. This gives you immediate coverage for all eligible prescription drugs and medical supplies and equipment.

This option may not be right for you if your annual prescription costs are less than your EHB deductible.

Each month, you will receive an invoice from DHSS-Finance that shows the amount owing and how to pay.

To qualify for MDPO, your family must:

  • Be registered for Extended Health Benefits.
  • Have an EHB deductible greater than $0.
