Tobacco Control

The Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Act and Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Regulations outline the rules associated with the use and sale of tobacco products in the NWT. Environmental Health Officers are responsible for conducting inspections of tobacco retailers to ensure that these businesses are in compliance with the legislation.

There is strong medical evidence that smoking tobacco is related to more than two dozen diseases and conditions. It has negative effects on nearly every organ of the body and reduces overall health.
