The Professional Licensing Office is the regulatory authority for health and social service professionals that are regulated by the Department of Health and Social Services in the NWT. The purpose of regulation is to ensure public safety in the provision of health and social services. Only those professionals that are qualified, competent, and safe are licensed to practice in the NWT.
The Professional Licensing Office develops, implements, and enforces supporting regulatory programming and instruments such as, but not limited to, continuing competence programs and practice standards. Further, the office is responsible for handling complaints regarding alleged unprofessional conduct by health and social services professionals that are regulated by the Department of Health and Social Services.
